Grenada Beat Dominica in Close Finish

Roseau Dominica – May 27, 2011 – Grenada defeated Dominica in the second round of matches of the Win Lotto twenty/20 cricket championship in Dominica.

Dominica won the toss and ask Grenada to bat, Grenada posted a good score after their 20 overs of 146 for 6 wickets.  Skipper Andre Fletcher top scored with 50, Carmichael was not out with a quick 30 in 19 balls, and Devon Smith was run out for 26.

In their reply Dominica lost 2 wickets in the opening over by Pascal in a fiery spell.  At one stage Dominica was 45 for 5 wickets but some big hitting and poor fielding and catching see Dominica falling short by 3 runs.  In the last over Dominica needed 20 runs to win.

All four teams Dominica, St. Vincent, St. Lucia and Grenada are tied on 1 win and 1 lost.

Earlier St. Lucia defeated St. Vincent by 19 runs.  St. Lucia scored 148 for 9 in 20 overs.  St. Vincent replied with 129 all out.

Before the start of the game a one minute silence was observed for the passing of the father of Devon Smith.
