Brooklyn, NY-The Grenada Independence Anniversary Committee of New York (GIACONY) in collaboration with the Grenada Consulate in New York will on Thursday Oct. 15th 2009 donate to the Ministries of Health and Social Development, respectively, medical supplies totaling in the amount of over $15,000 USD from funds raised at this year’s Independence Gala and Awards Ceremony held on February 7th.
“The committee is delighted to be able to donate gifts to institutions in Grenada,” says Consul General Derrick James. “The mission of GIACONY is to serve the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. In keeping with our mission, the following donations will be presented to Permanent Secretaries in the respective ministries.

The Grenada Independence Anniversary Committee of New York is an organization of concerned Grenadians working together to observe Grenada’s Anniversary of Independence annually. The 2009-2010 committee comprises of Derek Ventour (Chairman) Derrick James (Consul General) Yoland Scott, Jean Taylor, Constance Pitt, Ken Phillip, Rudolph Cyrus-Charles, Raymond Layne, Rev. Wesley Daniel, Dr. Barbara Gordon, Cyril Sylvester, and Wendy Bruno.
