Over a thousand West Indians primarily of Grenadians attended the 29th annual convention of the Grenada New York Adventist Organization at the Wingate High School Auditorium.
It is a day that most Grenadians in North America looks forward to every year, when they can meet with old friends and enjoy a Sabbath together.
The president Brother Crofton Calliste outlined his plan to take the organization forward. He mentioned plans for another medical mission to Grenada in 2014, the first mission took place in 2011 and with the lessons learnt he is planning to make this visit even better.
During the morning Brother Calliste gave the bad news that a bus coming from Canada to celebrate the event turned over injuring several however none of the injury was life threatening.
The featured speaker for the morning service was brother Anderson Felix from the Crochou Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Everyone was treated with a hot tasty lunch and took the time to meet and greet old friends from back home.
The day ended with a grand social event which included games and old Grenadian folk music.
The organization has a number of events planned to raise funds for the medical trip to Grenada in 2012. The next event will be a Tea Party slated for October 28, 2012 at the New Haven SDA Church.
