Grenada Celebrates 37 Years of Independence

Grenada will be celebrating 37 years as an independent nation, on February 7th, 2011. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Celebrating thirty seven years through challenging times with Optimism and Resiliency”.

In commemoration of this special occasion, the Grenadian community in Toronto, Canada is hosting the following events:

Flag Raising Ceremony at Nathan Phillip Square, on Friday February 4th, 2011, at 12:00 noon.  Following the ceremony, there will be a reception at the office of the Consulate General.

Independence Gala hosted by the Grenada Association (Toronto) and the Consulate General of Grenada in Toronto will be held on Saturday, February 5th, 2011, at Spirale Banquet Hall – 888 Don Mills Road, commencing at 6:30 p.m. 

Literary Night hosted by Spice Youth Toronto and the Consulate General of Grenada, will be held on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.

A Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, February 13th, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., at the St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church, 811 Lawrence Avenue West – Dufferin & Lawrence Avenue West.

Grenada’s Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports, Hon. Patrick Simmons, will be celebrating this year’s independence with the Grenadian community in Toronto.
