Gayle, Windies players back for Jamaica, Lambert dropped

KINGSTON, Jamaica – 12 February 2008

The Jamaican selectors have called on the services of the country’s five West Indies players who recently returned from South Africa for their quarterfinal round Stanford 20/20 showdown with Nevis.Chris Gayle, who sustained two injuries in South Africa while playing for the West Indies and returned home prematurely, missed the first game because he did not recovered in time.

However, Marlon Samuels, Brenton Parchment, Daren Powell and Jerome Taylor – missed the match against Bahamas due to the time of their arrival from South Africa.

Tamar Lambert, who led the team to it’s first win, fast bowler Jermaine Lawson, Australian-born Brendan Nash, along with Andre McCarthy and Andre Russell who were emergency fielders, are the players omitted.Inform batsman Danza Hyatt, who scored 73 against Bahamas, Shawn Findlay, Carlton Baugh Jr, Xavier Marshall, Nikita Miller, Odean Brown, and David Bernard Jr., are retained in the squad set to depart for Antigua on Thursday.

Jamaica face Nevis in the quarterfinal round of the Stanford 20/20 tournament at the Stanford Cricket Ground on Saturday, before returning home on Sunday.

The winner of the match will advance to the second semi final on February 23rd where they will play the winner of the Antigua v Guyana encounter scheduled for February 17.
