St. George’s, May 16, 2012 – MP for the Town of St. George, Peter David, says he plans on donating a special award to the athlete who is judged the most valuable player (MVP) in the championship game of the United Insurance Old Trafford Over-40 Football Competition.
The champions will be crowned when St. Paul’s meets Queen’s Park Rangers in the final on Sunday, May 20, 4 pm. It is one of two weekend games at Old Trafford.
“I’ve witnessed almost every game in the tournament that has been very competitive and has been a great social gathering of friends and family,’’ said David, who contributed significant last year to the rehabilitation of Old Trafford in one of a series of development projects in the Town of St. George.
“I want to commend the organizers and sponsor of the competition for a job well done,’’ MP David said. “In appreciation of their efforts, I will donate a trophy to the MVP of the St.Paul’s/Rangers game on Sunday.’’
The other weekend game will be played on Saturday, May 19, starting 4.30 pm. It’s a contest for third position between South Patriots and St. David’s Golden Boys.
