St. George’s, March 30, 2010 (GIS) – The Ministry of Health is using this year’s Health Week to sensitise nationals on taking responsibility for their own health.
The theme of the week is, “Urbanism and Healthy Living.” The ministry is utilising the event to draw attention to health-related issues that could develop with the movement of people from rural communities to urban areas. Among the potential problems that could develop are overcrowding and improper sanitation.
Health Week begins on Sunday, April 4, with an address by Minister of Health, Senator Ann Peters. During the week, which ends on April 10, a major focus will be on practising healthy lifestyles.
Activities will include workplace and dance exercises, and an agricultural exhibition on essential farming.
The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council and the Marketing and National Importing Board will also be staging exhibitions.
