Grenadian opening batsman Devon Smith making a return to the West Indies team finished on 53 not at the close of play on on the second day of the second test against Sri Lanka at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia.
On a rain interrupted day the West Indies struggled against some tight bowling but held of the Sri Lankans bowlers finishing on 118 for 2. Kraig Brathwaite made 22 and Powell a quick 27. The West Indies will be hoping for better weather today when they hope to pile on a big first inning lead.
Smith who has been under pressure to keep his place in the West Indies team will hope to quite his critics today with big score. Earlier this year he finished the CWI four day professional championship with over one thousand runs including 6 centuries and will look to continue from that performance.
