Consultations on 2011 Budget

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, Wednesday, October 13, 2010: As part of the 2011 budget preparation process, the Ministry of Finance has planned a National Budget Consultation for Thursday October 28th, 2010, at the Grenada Trade Centre.

The day’s exercise will take the form of working group sessions where participants will be placed into groups focusing on the following areas:

  • Safety nets and social protection
  • Job creation and stimulating demand
  • Small and medium enterprises
  • Tourism
  • Energy development
  • Construction
  • Agribusiness 

Invitations to the consultation are currently being disseminated via email. This is consistent with the Ministry of Finance’s efforts to realize the Government’s policy on waste reduction in the public service.

Anyone wishing to attend the consultation must pre-register with the Ministry of Finance by Wednesday October 20th 2010. Persons can pre-register by calling 435-0057 or by sending an email to financegrenada@gmail.com.

In the meantime, the Ministry is also holding consultations with sector organizations. One such consultation will be held with the Trade Union Council on Thursday October 14th 2010. Consultations with the private sector, civil society and professional groups are planned for the week of October 18th 2010. A schedule for consultations with the general public on a parish level is currently being developed and will be circulated shortly.
