St. George’s, August 26, 2012 – A group of students, who spent part of their holidays at a summer camp hosted by a St. George’s volunteer organization, ended the programme with a beach lime that included food and games.
The camp was an initiative of the Organization for Community Enrichment (OCE), whose annual programme of activities also includes health clinics and assistance to elderly citizens.
“We decided to put on the beach lime for the children and Honourable Peter, MP for the Town of St. George, agreed to sponsor it and assisted us with transportation and food,’’ said OCE member Diana Gibbs.
“We are thankful for the sponsorship. The children enjoyed the beach lime immensely and didn’t want to leave.’’
MP David, who visited the children during the beach outing on Friday, August 24, congratulated OCE for its “tremendous spirit’’ of volunteerism.
“Their volunteer efforts cut across all class and political lines. Their tremendous spirit is a fine example of what can be achieved when we work together as a people,’’ David said.
“I was pleased at the fun and excitement the children were having,’’ added David. “I want to wish them, and all other children nationwide, the very best in their studies as they return to pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, as well as to college and university.’’
The 2012-2013 academic year for almost all students across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique begins Monday, September 3.
