From educational materials to recreational toys more than 200 children under the age of 13 from the St George’s North East Community received a Christmas gift as a result of a partnership between Compass Shipping and Dee Vee International Productions that benefitted the Beaulieu Village Council.
The contribution was an individual effort coordinated by Derek Ventour of DEE VEE International Productions after he was approach by members of group to assist them with a donation of toys to distribute during the group’s annual Christmas party.
“Participating in the project was my way of giving back to my community,” Ventour said.
Compass Shipping management consented to free shipping for the toys from New York while another contributor was Mrs. Julia Moore of Gems Holiday Beach Resort who provide refreshment for the children on the day of the party which was held at the Roman Catholic School.
President of the Council, Ms Pamela Adolphus said that the members were very please to received the gifts which were presented to less fortunate children in the community. “This was our small way to providing them with some joy and cheer during the Christmas season, we appreciate the efforts of everyone who contributed to the project,” she said.
The Beaulieu Village Council was established in October 2008, it is managed by an Executive Body whose President is Pamela Adolphus. Its mission is “Working together as a unified family to bring peace, prosperity and the orderly development of our community.”
The objectives of the Council are: to Build Community Spirit; to assist in the development o our young people in education, sports and culture; to influence the orderly development of the community namely infrastructure and utilities and to aid and assist needy households/individuals in the community.
