Today February 7th 2011 marks the 37th anniversary of our Political Independence – a vision of the late ex-Prime Minister Sir Eric Matthew Gairy, who ruled this country for 27 years and is now described and accepted as the Father of Our Independence.

Prosecutors in New York have indicted a Jamaican-born pastor at a Bronx church for allegedly repeatedly raping a teenage girl in his congregation.
Grenada’s Ameena Caesar crowned Miss Caribbean Queen
Grenada’s Ameena Caesar was crowned the first ever Miss Caribbean Queen in New York on Friday night at Club Nocturnal. The 18 year-old from Marquis, St Andrew defeated five other contestants from Jamaica, St Kitts & Nevis, Haiti, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.
New Road Open in St. Patricks
The newly constructed Cross Street Road in Mt. Craven, St. Patrick was officially opened this afternoon at 3pm. The project which originally began under the stewardship of the Ministry of Community Development, in 2009 constructed a slipper drain and a by-road at a cost of $EC 52,000.
