In wake of the earthquake in Haiti on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 The CARIOM Consular Corps is saddened to learn of the events which occurred in Haiti last evening and wishes to convey its profound condolences to the Government and people of Haiti in the wake of this most shocking and devastating occurrence.
As we begin to fully measure the extent of the devastation effected by this earthquake, and to assess the tremendous loss of human life and physical infrastructure, our thoughts are with the victims and numerous families who have been scarred by this tragedy.
The Corps calls upon all CARICOM nationals in the tri-state and beyond to join together to provide material and moral support as may be required to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Our Consulates are prepared to receive ready to wear items of clothing, food stuff, water and other essential materials for transportation to Haiti.
The Caribbean Consular Corps wishes to express its solidarity with the Government and people of Haiti and takes comfort in the knowledge that the legendary resilience and fortitude of the Haitian people will overcome these terrible events.
