St. George’s, August 28, 2011 – Carenage players have earned the early bragging rights at the start of what is expected to be regular competitions at the newly renovated Old Trafford Playing Field in Tanteen, St. George’s.
Cricketers representing the Carenage, St. Paul’s and Paddock met in a three-team friendly wind-ball tournament on Sunday. Players took breaks between games to be feted to drinks and meals of Oil Down and Pelau.
Carenage defeated Paddock in the final that was witnessed by MP for the Town of St. George, Hon. Peter David, who congratulated the winners.
More cricket tournaments, as well as a football competition for players 40 years and older, are planned for Old Trafford whose upkeep and scheduling of activities are being undertaken by the Carenage Organization for Recreation and Entertainment (CORE).
The next general meeting of CORE is carded for Wednesday, September 14, 5 pm, Community Room, Carenage Sports Complex.
