By-election in Barbados for Former PM Seat

The governing Democratic Labor Party (DLP) and the opposition Barbados Labor Party (BLP) will be ending  the final lap this evening for tomorrow’s by-election in the St John constituency.

The by-election was made necessary by the death of Prime Minister David Thompson.

He has been its parliamentary representative since 1987, following the death, in office also, of Prime Minister Errol Barrow, who was consecutively re-elected from 1958 until his passing.

Tomorrow’s outcome of this most faithful constituency of the DLP is of academic interest.

Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart had no second thoughts in announcing January 20 as the by-election day.
