Burke: An NDC government will facilitate conditions for local and foreign investment

A National Democratic Congress government would aim for balanced and sustainable development involving local and foreign investment, NDC official Nazim Burke has stated.

The Public Relations Officer of the NDC, Burke says when in office, the NDC intends to establish clear policies around physical planning and zoning that would lead to development.

“We want development but we do not want development at any cost, in any place and in any manner,’’ said Burke, the NDC incumbent for St. George North East in the July 8 general election.

“To be of long-term benefit to our country, and to the majority of our people, the development we pursue must not only be commercially and economically viable for the investors, it should also be sustainable. It should be balanced and it must be compatible with our culture and our heritage.’’

Burke said the NDC would invite the “fullest participation’’ of the business community in the development of a land use policy and zoning for Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

As the ruling party, the NDC would welcome local and foreign investors and do all in its power to facilitate conditions for their operations, Burke pledged.

“We would also honour all contractual obligations given by the Government of Grenada to any investor,’’ Burke said. “It’s not for us to try to reverse that process today.’’ .
