The Ministry of Finance has been engaged in a series of meetings ahead of the NDC’s second budget presentation since coming to power in 2008.  The budget is expected to include plans for the introduction of a Value Added Tax (VAT) in 2010.

Finance Minister Hon. Nazim Burke, who is also MP for St. George North-East, has already announced that there will be no VAT on certain items, including water.

Mr. Burke, Deputy NDC Leader, will attend a community budget consultation in his constituency on Monday, November 9, 7 pm, at Beaulieu R.C. The budget consultation is also for government to field questions from citizens, and for the the people to make “suggestions for the improvement’’ of their country and constituencies, Hon. Burke said.
