St. George’s, February 9, 2012 – Top officials of the Trinidad-based Beacon Insurance Limited visited Grenada on Thursday as part of a regional “branch launch’’ of the company that is symbolized by a lighthouse.
“Today represents a significant milestone for the Beacon,’’ Robert Mowser said at the “branch launch’’ at the Grenada Trade Centre in Morne Rouge, St. George’s.
He was speaking shortly before the unveiling of Beacon’s new and enhanced yellow lighthouse symbol with the tagline, “For over 40 years Beacon has kept its promises. Join us as we step into a bright new day.’’
“Branch launches’’ are also scheduled for other territories where there are Beacon branches and agencies. They are Barbados, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Dominica.
The Grenada event was attended by Beacon Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Gerald Hadeed, and other executives from Trinidad; local insurance industry representatives; Labour Minister and MP for St. George South, Glynis Roberts; Senator Chester Humphrey; and Angus Smith, Executive Director of GARFIN – the Grenada Authority for the Regulation of Financial Institutions.
Mowser, Deputy Chairman of Beacon, said the rebranding began five years ago and involved engagement with various groups and individuals, including the University of the West Indies and company customers who “gave us some very interesting feedback.’’
Beacon, whose local branch is on Maurice Bishop Highway, has been operating in Grenada since 1989.
“We expect to be here for generations working with you and for you,’’ said CEO Hadeed.
Molly Roberts, Manager of the Beacon Branch in Grenada, said she and her staff fully embrace the rebranding initiative of the Corporate Head Office.
“We are optimistic,’’ she said, “that under the new branding, Beacon Insurance will become an even greater force with which to reckon and an even bigger household name not just in Grenada, but throughout the rest of the Caribbean.’’
Beacon underwrites insurance coverage for such things as property, health and accident, bonding, marine cargo, motor and general accident.
