ALUMNI ASSOCIATION DONATING COMPUTERS TO GBSS

Toronto, Ontario, CanadaJuly 1, 2011: The GBSS Alumni Association of Toronto has followed up on its commitment to support the development of a Learning Resource Centre at the institution by donating 14 New Desktop Computers that will give students full access to a variety of information technology tools.

The project which was officially launched in December, 2009, has received the support of the Government of Grenada, the GBSS Governing Body, the Old Boys Association, Alumni Associations in the Diaspora and Former Students.

The official handing over ceremony of the 14 computers will take place 8.30 a.m., Monday, July 4, at the GBSS auditorium, Tanteen, St. George’s. It will be the final assembly of the school year and the event will be attended by several former GBSS students, including Tourism Minister and MP for the Town of St. George, Peter David.

Among the speakers at the assembly and handing over ceremony will be Kenroy Gordon, President of the GBSS Alumni Association of Toronto.

When completed, the GBSS Learning Resource Centre will have an integrated complement of print and electronic resources, which will significantly contribute to the institution’s technology capacity to meet the challenges of this technological age, and the ability to function effectively in the Caribbean region and the globally.

During the last 18 years, the GBSS Alumni Association of Toronto has been engaged in many fund raising initiatives aimed at assisting the institution  in meeting its financial, academic and other obligations.

The GBSS Alumni Association of Toronto and the local institution are committed to building and sustaining partnerships with various sectors that are committed to strengthening the institutional capacity of the Grenada Boys Secondary School.
