PRIME MINISTER’S STATEMENT UPON THE RETIREMENT OF SIR DANIEL WILLIAMS

St. George’s, Grenada – November 20, 2008: – Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas has expressed his appreciation and thanks to Sir Daniel Williams upon his retirement.

The Prime Minister said Sir Danny and Lady Williams gave “selfless service” to the people of Grenada over the past 13 years as Head of State, the highest office in Grenada.

Sir Daniel has served as patron to several organizations, including the Scout Movement and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Programme.

Sir Daniel joins a select few to have performed this role as Head of State in Grenada.

He was appointed to the Office as the fourth Governor General of the state of Grenada on the 8th August 1996, when Former Governor General Sir Reginald Palmer demitted office.

The Government of Prime Minister Thomas wishes Sir Daniel and Lady Williams a rewarding retirement and hope that their future endeavors will be fruitful..
