The inaugural Grenada Olympia Expo happens on Saturday, Nov. 3

St. George’s; Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 – Folks are talking about the inaugural Grenada Olympia Expo, which will be happening tomorrow, Saturday, November 3, at the Grenada Trade Center in Grand Anse.

This expo, which will promote both health and beauty for males and females, is the brainchild of Winston Frederick, Jr., a Grenadian physical fitness professional, based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

From 10 a.m. the public will be able to particulate in the health promotion activities, which will include glucose, hypertension and BMI monitoring of attendees. The day’s packed slate of activities will also include a fashion show and various preliminary, competitive categories of men’s power lifting, fitness and body building, and women’s figure and fitness.

Then later on at 7 p.m., the male body builders and the ladies of figure will compete. Activities are expected to conclude at 11 p.m.

Several government officials, including Prime Minister, Hon. Tillman Thomas, the Minister of Sports, Hon. Patrick Simmons and the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. George Mitchell, are expected to attend this event.

Intended to be an annual event, the Grenada Olympia Expo is being held in association with St. George’s University, the Grenada Amateur Body Building and Fitness Federation, Grenada’s Ministries of Health and Sports and several gyms and fitness clubs of Grenada.

A $5 donation will be collected during the morning session, while a $25 fee will be required for admission to the Ms. Grenada Bikini and Mr. Grenada Olympia finals. A percentage of the proceeds will go to the Grenada National Council of the Disabled.
