Toronto, Ontario, September 19, 2010 – Grenada’s former Prime Minister and current Opposition Leader, Dr. Keith C. Mitchell was welcomed throughout Ontario.
Dr. Keith C. Mitchell, who led Grenada through thirteen years of peace, stability and progress, attended Grenada Day and held a town hall meeting to update nationals and friends on the political, economic and social climate of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique.
Louise Noel-Ambrose, president of Eventobe, an Event Management & Public Relations Firm stated “I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and reaching out that both Canadians and Grenadains provided for Dr. Mitchell.” The list of those who welcomed Dr. Mitchell included Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine, first Caribbean born conferred with Canada’s Order of Canada, His Worship George A. Griffith past High Commissioner of Grenada to Canada, Conrad Gibbs former Consul General of Grenada in Toronto among other Officials.
Throughout the events he attended Dr. Mitchell found little time to sample food and drinks. He was circled by those who wanted to talk, hug and shake hands. Dr. Mitchell did find time to update nationals and friends of Grenadians on the political, economic and social climate of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique. In his presentation at the Ellas Banquet Hall, he Dr. Mitchell outlined the numerous “broken promises” of the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) led government. As he previously did in New York, He maintained that because of NDC’s broken promises Grenadians and investors have lost confidence in Grenada. He offered evidence of the NDC led government’s incompetent governance, victimization of citizens and infighting among its government leaders. He repeatedly reminded attendees of a need for a “new rescue plan” to address the “pain and suffering” facing Grenadians.
Dr. Mitchell also offered key elements of his New National Party’s rescue plan for Grenada, these elements include reduce size of Government, reduce VAT, reduce tax, stop politics of spite and hate, stop misuse of police force and legal system, restore relief programs for elderly, restore soft loans for fishermen, farmers and youth and restoring the welcome climate for investors.
Dr. Mitchell urged supporters to continue the support for the people Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique. And he urged nationals and friends to forget party affiliation and instead focus on restoring “a new sense of confidence and hope” for investors and for the people Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique.
