The Grenada Board of Tourism invites students of all schools in Grenada to participate in the 2008 FCCA Foundation – Children’s Essay Contest. The topic is “What steps can we take as a destination to make cruise passengers feel more welcome while in port?”
As obtained in previous years, the essay contest is being conducted in two categories; a junior division for children ages 12 and under, and a senior division for children ages 13 – 16 years. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from each category in the Caribbean will receive US $3,000, $1,500 and $1,000, respectively. Their schools will also be given the same substantial financial rewards.
Essays should be approximately 300 to 500 words, and must be submitted to the Grenada Board of Tourism no later than Monday June 30, 2008. Additional information about this annual contest is being sent to all primary and secondary schools in Grenada.
In the 2007 essay competition, Desire Williams of the St. Rose Modern Secondary School and Emily Rapier of Westmoreland Primary School were Grenada’s finalists. They were each awarded EC$534.00 for their achievement.
The Grenada Board of Tourism urges principals, teachers, and parents to encourage as many students as possible to participate in this essay contest.
