A thirteen (13) member delegation headed by the Honorable Minister for Tourism Mrs. Glynis Roberts will represent Grenada at the 16th Annual Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Conference in St. Lucia from October 27 – 29, 2009.

The St. Lucia event, like previous conferences of its type, will avail itself for discussions about legislation, tourism development, port development, safety and security, and other pertinent and relevant issues that are impacting the cruise industry in Florida, the Caribbean and Mexican waters. It is believed that such interaction and discussions will foster a better understanding of the operating practices of the cruise industry and facilitate the expansion of cooperative relationships among all participating stakeholders.

Grenada’s primary focus during the three-day event though will be to showcase the island’s brand with a view to obtaining more business for the destination. It also hopes to concentrate on continued networking in order to strengthen existing relationships, as well as build additional partnerships with cruise ship principals. The delegation also intends to continue the process of securing additional cruise ship calls during the winter and in particular endeavor to obtain at least one summer call from a major cruise line in 2011.

Participation is also premised on the desire to introduce the newly appointed Minister for Tourism Honorable Glynis Roberts to the cruise executives and allow her to consequentially develop direct and personal relationships with prominent industry players.

Overall, the Grenada delegation of tourism stakeholders and officials comprises representatives from the Grenada Board of Tourism; Grenada Ports Authority, George F. Huggins & Company, Tourism Services, Helvellyn Tours, Tropical Charm, Best of Grenada Ltd, and the Grenville Vale Tropical Gardens.
