St. George’s, April 23, 2010 – Another group of supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress has expressed support and confidence in the performance of government, especially with the recent signing of the maritime treaty with Trinidad and Tobago.
A statement of support, in the form of a resolution, has been issued by the NDC’s St. Andrew’s South East Constituency Council, which is represented in parliament by Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister, Hon. Patrick Simmons.
In the wake of the signing of the maritime treaty, other public statements backing the government of Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas have come from NDC’s Public Relations Officer Arley Gill and the party’s executive, as well as from the support groups of the NDC in Toronto and Montreal.
Here is the text of the resolution issued by the St. Andrew’s South East Constituency Council:
BE IT RESOLVED that the National Democratic Congress government has worked steadfastly and diligently in a difficult economic environment to bring benefits to the people of Grenada,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Tillman Thomas administration initiated the new round of delimitation talks with Trinidad and Tobago immediately upon taking office
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and Foreign Affairs Minister Peter David have shown leadership and vision on the issue of our maritime boundaries
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that exploration of our marine resources are critical to the development of the nation and its people
The St Andrew’s South East Constituency Council hereby declares its uninhibited and unconditional support for the new treaty signed by the National Democratic Congress government with Trinidad and Tobago.
The Council further declares its appreciation for the leadership and inspiration of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and Foreign Affairs Minister Peter David on the issue of our maritime boundaries, and many other national issues.
The Council further states its unwavering support for the leadership of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and the progressive policies of the National Democratic Congress.
Passed by resolution at the Constituency Council Meeting at Grenville on this 22nd day of April, 2010.
