St. George’s, August 21, 2011 – The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) is regarded as the toughest regionally administered students’ test. To succeed at CAPE and to pass at multiple subjects are an enormous achievement.
Jaime Samuel, a student of T.A. Marryshow Community College, has not just been able to pass in multiple subject areas, but he is this year’s top student in Unit 2 – those completing their second year of studies.
The achievement of the young man, who lives in the Four Roads community of St. George’s, has not gone unnoticed.
“I want to highly commend this young man who has shown tremendous dedication and discipline to his studies and his school work,’’ said Hon. Peter David, MP for the Town of St. George.
“Jaime’s approach should be a model for other youth. It’s the kind of attitude that’s required to succeed in whatever path in life one chooses.’’
CAPE is described as a bridge between high school and university life, and much of the work demands self-motivation by students.
MP David, who is also Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, said he intends to publicly recognize Jaime on his success.
“I’ll be meeting with Jaime and his parents shortly, and will be presenting this brilliant young man with a token for doing so very well in the CAPE exams,’’ said Mr. David.
