St. George’s, June 5, 2012 – Defending Soca Monarch, Terror Kid, is among several top artistes who will be performing at this year’s official launch of the Spicemas Corporation’s Carnival City.
Carnival City was inaugurated in 2011 and was held twice weekly at Fort Matthew in St. George’s. The concept has been revised and upgraded and will be taken to all the country’s parishes during the 2012 carnival season.
The launch of Carnival City 2012 is on Wednesday, June 6, starting 8 pm. It will be held at Lazy Lagoon on Kirani James Boulevard, formerly known as Lagoon Road.
Terror Kid will be joined on stage by former Road March winners, Tallpree and Otis, as well as by Nikoyan Bain and Little Natty and Thunder. Music will be provided by DJ Black Storm.
Following Wednesday’s launch, the Carnival City show will then be held on Thursday of each week at Lazy Lagoon. It will move to other parishes on weekends.
Meanwhile, the Spicemas Corporation has announced that it has begun accepting registration for its various carnival shows. These include Soca Monarch, Calypso Monarch, Groovy Monarch, Children’s Carnival Frolic, Jouvert, and Monday Night Mas.
The final day for registration is Friday, June 29, at 4 pm.
