St. George’s, February 18, 2011 (GIS) – Junior Minister of Culture, Senator Arley Gill, has welcomed a steelband exchange involving Grenadian and Trinidadian pannists.
A nine-member contingent from the St. John-based Pan Ossia Steel Orchestra is in Trinidad as part of a collaboration with CLICO-Sforzata, a steelband located in Curepe.
CLICO-Sforzata Steel Orchestra is slated to participate in the Medium Band Category of the National Panorama Competition of Trinidad’s 2011 carnival, which culminates on March 7 and 8.
It is possible that some members of Pan Ossia will play with Sforzata in this year’s competition.
Sen. Gill, who visited with the pannists at Maurice Bishop International Airport before their departure for Trinidad, says it’s a great opportunity for the players.
