International Motivational High Impact Speaker was invited to two Brooklyn Schools to inspire the students to soar like eagles. First he went to Jackie Robinson Public School where he captivated and engaged the students and staff in two powerful presentation “Grounded or Soaring.” First he spoke to the Kindergarten to Grade 2s and then Grades 3-5, captivating their attention as he painted a colourful indelible picture on the canvass of their minds. His message began with a story of an eagle which was hatched among chickens and how he was trapped in chicken habits, routines and mentality which kept him earthbound, but who soared to phenomenal heights after finding his true self and identity. This he compared to eagle students who allow themselves to be trapped in the “chicken behaviour” of disrespect, stealing, swearing, violence, fighting and other negative behaviour and attitudes.
Chitan did not end his session without bringing hope to students by also telling his own story of chicken friends and relatives in his life who attempted to keep him earthbound also. But how by finding himself and his abilities he soared to the top of his career flying across the continents to inspire and motivate people to get up and move on. As the final icing on the cake, he brought the house down as he dramatically showcased the life of the 44th President of the United States, a powerful eagle who came from separated parents, mixed up identity and compulsive behaviour to soar to the highest position in the United States of America-President Barrack Hussein Obama.
Later that day, Mr. Chitan was scheduled at the Brooklyn Collegiate School where again delivered another “on- the-edge-of-the-chair” session to over 600 grades 6-8 students. At the beginning of this session as the speaker proudly disclosed that although he is Canadian, he originally hailed from the Spice Island of Grenada, the audience erupted in jubilation as scores of students celebrated their Grenadian roots and parentage.
There too, Chitan delivered the same message but with a teenage twist, addressing several teenage attitudes and behaviour that can be considered chicken behaviour and can keep them grounded. Without apology he addressed relevant issues like: Teenage sexuality, school drop-outs, shoplifting, drug use and trafficking, criminal records, drooping pants and urban dress codes which sometimes create unfair profiles for even “Good Teens” At the end of this session again the audience erupted in a standing ovation as Chitan challenged students and staff to “Rise Up and Soar” despite how unfair life can sometimes become.
Principal Sias of Brooklyn Collegiate School was so impressed with the depth and power of the presentation that she and her administrative team has begun the process to have Neals Chitan and his organization Motiv-8 For Change International become official social skill vendors for her school and other schools of New York, so that he can sustain the change he started.
Neals Chitan is in the process of putting his work on hold in Toronto to respond on October 30-November 07, 2009, on a pro-bono basis to an official request from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Sports to assist in bringing his level of expertises and empowerment to the youth of Grenada while also being involved in the launching of the Ministry’s new Social Rehabilitation Youth Program. His services were previously engaged by the former Minister of Youth and he has made an incredible impact on the youth of Grenada. As a result of the impact made through Mr. Chitan’s sessions, the youth of Grenada requested to have him back again, sighting him as the person who made the most profound change in their lives.
