National Workshop on Market Access / Rules of origin

St. George, October 22nd, 2010. The Ministry of Environment, Foreign Trade and Export Development in collaboration with OECS Hubs and Spokes Project and the CARICOM Economic partnership Agreement (EPA) Implementation Unit, CARICOM Secretariat will be hosting a National Workshop on Market Access/Rules of Origin that will govern trade under the recently signed EPA between CARIFORUM and the European Union.

The Workshop will be held from 26-27 October 2010 at the Public Workers Union Building, Tanteen. The workshop will commence at 1:30 Pm on October 26th, 2010.

The objective of the workshop is to provide manufacturers and small Argo processors (both current and potential exporters to the EU) with a better understanding of the market arrangements and opportunities under the Economic Partnership Agreement. The workshop will also cover the new Rules of the Origin under the EPA. Rules of origin are very important in order to gain duty free access to the EU market for Grenada’s manufactured and Argo processed products.

The workshop will be facilitated by Mr. Branford Isaac, Head of the CARIFOURM EPA Unit and former CARIFOURM Chief Negotiator for EPA Market Access/Rules of Origin.

The Ministry is inviting manufacturers and small Agro processors to participate in this very important workshop. For further information on the Workshop, persons can contact this Ministry on telephone No. 440-2101.
