Grenada Retains Windward Islands Cricket Championship

September 13, 2008 – Roseau, Dominica: Grenada retained the Windward Islands cricket championship by gaining first inning points against Dominica today.  Batting first Dominica made 196 with K. James top scoring with 62, for Grenada spinner Denis George took 6 wickets for 51.

Grenada replied with 260, Devon Smith made an impressive 130, H. Campbell 35 and skipper Rawl Lewis 22.  Dominica facing a first inning lead of 64, struggled to 110 for 9 at the close.   Rawl Lewis took 3 wickets for 31 and Denis George 3 wickets for 19 to finish the tournament with 24 wickets. 

Final points standing: Grenada 24, Dominica 19, St. Vincent 16, and St. Lucia at the bottom with 3 points.

The one day 50 over  tournament starts on Monday with Grenada playing St. Lucia and Dominica vs St. Vincent..
