Dr. Francis Alexis says the Commissioner of Police should reconsider his decision refusing NDC permission to use public address systems during their election motorcade this Sunday.
Alexis says that the refusing of permission to NDC is rather puzzling.
Alexis observes that decisions of the Commissioner on matters impacting election campaign activities and freedom of speech must not only be fair. Such decisions must also manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be fair.
The idea of NNP having a motorcade with freedom to use public address systems but NDC being confined to a motorcade without freedom to use public address systems is bothersome. This is so, Alexis reasons, because the differentiation is apt to give NNP an unfair advantage over NDC as regards freedom to communicate.
It is, therefore, Alexis concludes, only fair that the Police Commissioner review his decision and grant NDC permission to use public address systems during their election motorcade on Sunday.
