Friday, May 13, 2011: At approximately 11am this morning May 13th 2011 there was a fire in the River Road Gretna Green area that destroyed two houses. Our heart goes out to the two families who have suffered this great lost. We thank the Almighty that no lives were lost and no one was injured but the reality is that in these hard times two families were made homeless.
The NNP, Town of St. George would like to make a donation of $1000.00 to assist the families with their immediate needs. We have already arranged a contribution of clothing for the six children, all between the ages of 3 and 13 that have been made homeless. We will also see to the families immediate needs of food for this weekend. Our executive has organized a group of volunteers who will assist in cleaning up the site on Saturday and Sunday.
We are willing to work with all other organizations within the community to expedite the speedy return of the two families to normalcy or as close to it as seemingly possible. This tragedy presents an opportunity for all concern to make a meaningful contribution in the restoration of hope and goodwill in the community.
