Poultry farmer Clifford Robertson has accused the New National Party government of mismanaging the Grenada economy to the point of criminal neglect.
Robertson made the charge during a radio interview in which he was discussing an audited report of the failed Grenada Broilers project, which was located in parish of St. Mark.
The project, a partnership between government and a group of private investors, was supposed to be involved in poultry production, processing and marketing.
Robertson, who himself ran a short-lived hatchery in St. Andrew, said poultry is part of the agricultural sector.
But he said the sector is almost dead, despite an NNP election promise of 1995 to resuscitate agriculture.
Robertson quoted the auditors’ report, which described a lack of efficiency and prudence in the activities undertaken by Grenada Broilers..
