Dear Prime Minister,

On behalf of the government and the people of Grenada, I congratulate you on the performance of your athletes in the Men’s 100 meters and the Women’s 100 meters at the Beijing Olympic Games.

The world-record performance of Usain Bolt and the equally outstanding performances of Shelly-Ann Fraser , Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson have made us as a Caribbean people very proud.

For one moment in history, it did not matter whether we were Grenadian or Jamaican. We hope for the benefit of the region that we will be able to build on moments like these when our shared successes can be another step toward our shared destiny.
