Grand Mal Development Organization receives tennis board

St. George’s, April 29, 2012 – Residents of a St. George’s North-West community that recently won a football competition are now looking to broaden their sporting prowess.

Grand Mal residents have now set their eyes on becoming a power house in table tennis.

A request for help in furthering the sport of table tennis was made to Tourism Minister, Peter David, by the Grand Mal Development Organization.

David recently presented a table tennis board to James Anthony Hamlet and other members of the organization.

“After being approached by Mr Hamlet for assistance, I agreed to try and help and began the search for a table tennis board,’’ David said. “Eventually, Chinese Government officials in Grenada consented to donate a board. I thank them for the donation and I wish the youth of Grand Mall all the best in their sporting and recreational activities.’’

David, MP for the Town of St. George and General Secretary of the ruling NDC, reiterated a commitment to supporting youth development across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

The handing over ceremony took place during a sports day sponsored by the Grand Mal Development Organization.

Grand Mal were the recent winners of a football competition held under the lights at the Queen’s Park playing field, adjacent to Wesley College.

In the final of the Queen’s Park Rangers Major League Football competition, sponsored by Sun Motors, Grand Mal defeated St. David’s Lions one goal to nil.

The winners earned $5,000, the champion’s trophy and medals.
