In a release a short while ago by the Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness announced the passing of former Prime Minister of Jamaica Mr. Edward Seaga.

Mr. Seaga who was Jamaica’s fifth Prime Minister died in the USA where he was receiving medical treatment. His family was with him at the time of his passing approximately 1:00 PM Jamaica time.

Mr. Seage died on his 89th birthday. He was the oldest former Prime Minister in the Caribbean. He serves as PM from 1980 to 1989 and as leader of the Jamaica Labor Party from 1974 to 2005.
