CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING FOR IRD STAFF

On Friday April 11th, 20 staff members of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of the Ministry of Finance completed a four-day workshop in Customer Relations, at the Grenada Grand Beach Resort.

The training was sponsored by the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC) and facilitated by Ms Kay Plouffe, a retired civil servant from the Canadian Tax Administration.

The workshop focused on building capacity and helping to ensure the sustainability of ongoing reforms in the taxpayer services functional area. It was also aimed at assisting and providing guidance and suggestions to the IRD regarding improved delivery of service to taxpayers.

Prior to the commencement of the training, Mrs. Plouffe conducted a review of the current structures, physical layout, policies and procedures for delivering taxpayer services at the IRD as so as to determine the current level of service that is provided and come up with suggested areas for improvement, which she presented at the training. This was done as a means of making the training practical and implemental.

The training ended with the presentation of certificates to the trainees by the Acting Comptroller of the IRD, Mr. Melville Hosten.
