St. George’s, January 16, 2012 – Grenadians have been applauded for their positive response to an appeal to help locate relatives of a Grenadian woman who died recently in New York.
The appeal was made Sunday by Grenada’s Consul General to New York, Derrick James, who said that no one had come forward to claim the body of Debra Charles who died January 6 at her apartment in Brooklyn.
Charles, 48, was described as someone who lived “a very quiet life.’’
“Since Sunday’s appeal, I was able to speak to Ms Charles’ mother in Carriacou and her brother in Maryland. They are making arrangements to take possession of the body,’’ Consul General James said Monday. “I want to thank everyone who responded to the appeal for information that led to us contacting the mother and brother of Debra Charles.’’
