St. George’s, November 26, 2012 – Republic Bank Angel Harps Steel Orchestra is third time lucky. After two unsuccessful attempts, Angel Harps footballers have finally defeated their Carenage over-40 rivals.
On Sunday, in the third game of a series between the two teams, Harps won 2 – 1.
Chad Griffith and Finbar Linton scored for Angel Harps. Richard Cherebin netted the only goal for the over-40 Carenage team.
Carenage won each of the two previous encounters by the same margin, three goals to one.
The teams meet again on December 8 at Old Trafford Playing Field in Tanteen.
The same day – starting 3 pm – Angel Harps female pannists will play a women’s team coached by Nat Simpson.
On December 15, there will be another kind of event at Old Trafford in support of youth activities. The Cub Scouts of the St. George’s Anglican School will be having a fundraiser.
The Cubs are trying to gather money for an overseas trip planned for next year.
Meanwhile, member of the Carenage Organisation for Recreation and Entertainment are reminded of their meeting on Thursday, November 29, at 5.30 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the Community Room of the Carenage Sports Complex.
