THE DEMOCRATIC LABOUR PARTY (DLP) administration has launched a project to tackle food security, unemployment and the cost of living at the same time.
The project, Youth In Agriculture, was formulated by the Office of Poverty Eradication and the Millennium Development Goals headed by Undine Whittaker. It should come on stream next month.
A statement issued by Whittaker said: “Participants can look forward to the use of science and technology as they are exposed to modern skills in respect of farming.” A number of agencies will assist in the management of the programme, such as the 4-H Movement, the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The plot of land is located within the animal nutrition unit. Interested people may call the Poverty Alleviation office. (CA/PR.
