The National Democratic Congress, NDC, has assured the youths of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique that if elected into office, they will be provided with gainful and productive projects to assist in nation building.“The NDC is very concerned about the well being of our young people, we want to see young people on the right track”, said Opposition Leader Tillman Thomas. Thomas was addressing youths at a youth fest on Sunday April 28, hosted by the NDC’s youth arm of the St. Andrews South West constituency and NDC candidate Sylvester Quarless. “Today we have seen the manifestation of a true family event”, remarked Thomas, “we have protected our youths and they are very happy playing games, socializing and exchanging ideas in a meaningful way”. The event which was held at the Union Playing field in St. Andrews saw 22 different teams from several communities competing in cricket, dominoes, cards, chess, squabble, among other games and activities. Quarless said he was enthused with the support and participation of the youths from the different communities in St. Andrews. “We have seen that the young people are ready to change the political landscape and I am extremely proud because youths play a major role in uplifting the country,” he continued “We know that Grenada is ready for change and that change is coming soon”, Quarless remarked. The Opposition Leader also reiterated his call for more opportunities for especially the young people in the north of the island. “Young people should be given equal opportunities regardless of their political affiliation, we should not identify people before they can benefit from state resources”, Thomas lamented .
