STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM CRUISE SHIP INTERNSHIP

St. George’s, Grenada: Fifteen (15) Grenadian students are now the proud bearers of certificates that highlight their successful completion of an eight (8) week internship period on board the Crown Princess.

In a graduation ceremony aboard the princess Cruise Line on Tuesday April 1, 2008, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Performing Arts Hon Dr Clarice Modeste Curwen described the event as “a moment of celebration” for the students.

She stressed her pleasure and appreciation for the opportunities that the cruise line has provided for the students to enhance their knowledge in the various areas that they were exposed to.

It was also her opinion that through the training initiative, the students would have had their appetites stimulated for excellence in the industry.

In closing, Minister Curwen thanked the Captain and crew of Crown Princess for being close and dear friends of Grenada, and expressed her optimism about the new batch of students that would be given similar opportunities when the ship returns to Grenada.

Representatives from the T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC), Programme for Adolescent Mothers (PAM) and New Life Organization (NEWLO) presented gifts to the captain and crew.

This is the fourth year that the Grenada Board of Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism have collaborated on an annual basis with the Crown Princess to enable as many hospitality students as possible to undergo internship in areas covering operational activities in restaurants, pursers’ offices, bars and accommodation..
