On Friday IMANI trainees throughout the island were encouraged to be the best they can be and to strive to reach their fullest potential by guest speaker at the recent IMANI Personal Development Session, Investor Mr. Peter De Savary. Mr. de Savary multi-millionaire English businessman, owner of Port Louis and Mount Cinnamon resorts on the island, gave the trainees an insight into his life as a striving businessman, highlighting the struggles he went through, to ensure clarity on the principle of fighting towards meeting their respective goals. Mr. de Savary also spoke of the importance of teamwork stating: “ On your own the limit of what you can achieve is rather small, but together with the right people, spirit, mind, hard work and learning there is no limit to what you can achieve”.The businessman also gave insight into his personal life and experience including his first experience on the island of Grenada in the 1950’s at the age of eight (8). He called on the IMANI Trainees to remember the three C’s Change, Choice and Chance. Mr. De Savary spoke of these areas as being very important in making the best of the opportunities we are presented with as human beings. Along with the three C’s, Mr. De Savary explained the need for humility in our lives making reference to the principle that we should always do good to people on our way up the ladder because we will meet them on our way down as life is full of various ups and downs.The participants took note of Mr. De Savary’s comments to always remain young in their thinking and outlook. The participants also took the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice from Mr. De Savary on personal and business issues. The trainees were attending their fortnightly personal development session, an important aspect of the IMANI Programme which focuses on developing positive attitudes and high moral and spiritual values among trainees as well as providing them with the opportunity to speak out on various issues..
