St. George’s University Alumni donates close to USD500, 000.00, in Medical Supplies to Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health this morning received close to US 500,000.00 dollars worth of medical supplies from the St. George’s University Alumni Association. The supplies were handed over to Health Minister Sen. the Hon Ann David Antoine at a handing over ceremony held at the Ophthalmology (Eye screening) department at the General Hospital. In handing over the supplies to the Health Minster, Ms. Jeannie Pascal, of the (SGU) said that the alumni association was happy to make the donation to the Ministry of Health, which they believe will aid the effective delivery of services offered at the Ophthalmology department. Ms. Pascal who also described the island’s Health Minister as a pillar of support said Senator Antoine is the backbone of the programme. Her sentiments were later echoed by lead surgeon of the SGU alumni Eye care programme Dr. Anthony Napolitano who said, “Nothing happens without the Minister and had it not been for her the programme would not have gotten off to a positive start given the amount of work that went into it”. According to Dr. Napolitano Minister Antoine is indeed a pillar of support and already plans are in the making for follow up programs and donations that are beneficial to the people of Grenada. The members of the SGU Alumni Eye screening team, during the period March 3rd to the 7th provided eye screening, diagnostic and corrective medical services to Grenadians free of charge. This morning’s exercise was conducted in the full view of the media as well as other healthcare professionals and administrators including Dr. Earline Thomas Ophthalmologist, Ms. Lorice Pascal Hospital Liaison officer and Mr. Terron Gilchrist Director of Hospital Services..
